Johnson signs for Everton in McNeil swap deal

On Tuesday, Everton and Crystal Palace finalized a swap deal that involved wingers Brennan Johnson and Dwight McNeil. Johnson, a Wales international, has agreed to a four-year contract with Everton, having previously joined Crystal Palace in January in a £35 million (US$47 million) move from Tottenham. The 25-year-old was not utilized in Palace's UEFA Conference League final triumph, 12 months after scoring Tottenham's winning goal in their Europa League final victory.

Johnson expressed his enthusiasm for joining Everton, stating that the club's ambition and direction aligned with his own goals. McNeil, 26, had previously shown interest in joining Crystal Palace during their January transfer window but was unable to complete the deal in time. The former England under-21 international has also committed to a four-year contract with the Eagles.

Both players praised the recent success of their respective teams over the past two seasons and expressed their eagerness to contribute to the clubs' ongoing achievements. Last season, Everton concluded in 13th place in the Premier League, one place higher than Crystal Palace, which finished in 15th.
