I’m not afraid of federal might- Adeleke

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, the Accord Party candidate for the upcoming August 15 governorship election, expressed confidence in his victory amidst allegations of federal government and other state governors' support for his opponent, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate. Speaking at the Arise Townhall Meeting, Adeleke called himself a "bulldozer" and confidently stated that he is prepared to face what he termed as "Federal might" and the influence of governors campaigning for his rival.

He dismissed claims that the presence of serving governors could sway the election outcome, asserting that he is not intimidated by their backing. Adeleke, who described the governors supporting the APC candidate as his friends, insisted that their presence would not translate into votes for his opponent. He emphasized that governors have the freedom to campaign and mobilize support for their preferred candidate, but they cannot vote in the election.

Adeleke dismissed allegations of militarization in Osun State, clarifying that he lacks constitutional authority to deploy the armed forces. As political parties escalate their campaigns and voter engagement efforts ahead of the election, Adeleke's remarks highlighted his determination to challenge the perceived support of federal and state authorities for his rival.

The closely watched election pits Adeleke against the APC candidate, and both campaigns are vying to secure the state's support base in preparation for the crucial poll.
