I Am Ready to Serve – Edith Dzigbordi Baku Declares Bid, Calls for “Mother of the Nation” to Clean Ghana

Ghanaian entrepreneur and member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Edith Dzigbordi Baku, has announced her intention to run for president in the upcoming elections. In a statement released on Tuesday, she emphasized the need for a strong-willed female leader to tackle corruption, end corrupt practices, and promote genuine development in the country.

Ms. Baku criticized current political leaders for making empty promises, prioritizing personal gain over public service, and benefiting from the country’s resources without contributing to its progress. She accused some leaders of "living off Kwame Nkrumah’s laurels," exploiting privileges while ordinary citizens suffer from poverty, unemployment, and inadequate healthcare.

Ms. Baku argued that Ghana requires honest leaders who genuinely care for the people and are not afraid to speak the truth and take action. She called for a woman to lead Ghana, stating that the country deserves a "mother of the nation" who will clean up the system and ensure accountability. Ms. Baku's primary motivation is not personal gain but rather bringing about change and delivering real development.

She pledged to build a Ghana where no one is above the law, and called for reforms to the labor system, advocating for fair compensation based on hours worked rather than fixed monthly salaries.
