Heavy rain lashes parts of Hyderabad, waterlogging in many areas

Hyderabad experienced sudden heavy rainfall on Wednesday, transforming a day of sunshine into a deluge. The city's residents were taken by surprise as clouds darkened and rain began to fall around 3 p.m. Waterlogged streets and sluggish traffic were soon reported in numerous neighborhoods.

Several areas bore the brunt of the downpour, including the Taj Krishna region near KCP Junction and the Panjagutta flyover. Commuters hurried to seek refuge beneath Metro stations and covered pavements as the rain caught them off guard. Reports emerged from various districts such as Ameerpet, Khairatabad, Madhura Nagar, Nagole, Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, and Madhapur, all of which had remained dry until the late afternoon.

Rainfall data from the Telangana Development Planning Society revealed a dramatic increase in precipitation. By 4 p.m., Khairatabad had accumulated 13.8 mm of rain, while Srinagar Colony, Banjara Hills, Borabanda, Ameerpet, Jubilee Hills, and Madhapur each recorded between 7.5 mm and 12.3 mm. The rapid onset of the storm left many residents and drivers caught in the deluge, highlighting the sudden shift in Hyderabad's weather patterns.
