Guimaraes makes Arsenal debut in Como friendly

On Wednesday, Arsenal's Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes made his debut for the Premier League champions in a pre-season friendly against Como 1907 at the Emirates Stadium in London. Signed for £75 million from Newcastle, Guimaraes came on as a substitute at half-time after Arsenal's Myles Lewis-Skelly had scored a goal that was later ruled out due to a poor pass from Como's goalkeeper Jean Butez.

The 19-year-old Brazilian received a warm welcome from the home fans after celebrating his goal with a heart gesture. Manager Mikel Arteta praised Guimaraes' determination, noting that he had only had three training sessions but looked good during the match. Arteta believed the young midfielder's presence would contribute positively to the team's performance.

Despite Guimaraes' debut, Arsenal was unable to secure a win, losing the match 1-1. Manager Arteta left out Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, and Martin Zubimendi, but first introduced Eberechi Eze, David Raya, Mikel Merino, and Noni Madueke to the pre-season fixtures. The game ended with a penalty shootout, which Arsenal won 4-3, with new signing Christos Tzolis scoring the decisive penalty.
