Google’s new Tensor G6 brings serious performance, efficiency, and security upgrades to the Pixel 11 series

Google's new Pixel 11 series features the Tensor G6 chip, a significant upgrade over the Tensor G5. This new chip promises up to 25% faster browsing and 15% faster app loads. The Image Signal Processor has been upgraded, and a new TPU has been introduced, which is 50% more powerful than the previous generation. This allows for features like the 120x Pro Zoom and Instant Night Sight on the Pro models, enabling users to capture low-light photos up to 4.5 times faster.

The Tensor G6 also powers Gemini Nano, Google's on-device AI model, which now runs with higher quality and lower latency. A new Titan M3 security coprocessor, designed for post-quantum cryptography, has been added. This chip has earned Common Criteria certification at a level used for SIMs and bank cards, and it handles quantum-safe secure boot and Google's Trusted Execution Environment on all four phones.

While the Tensor G6 may not outperform the latest chips from Qualcomm or Apple by much, the performance and efficiency gains are expected to result in a smoother Pixel experience.
