Ghanaians have a way of boxing you – Perez Musik

Award-winning gospel musician Perez Musik has shared his experiences of exploring diverse musical sounds beyond urban gospel. In an interview on Joy Learning TV and Joy News, he explained that audiences often resist artistes who venture outside the genres they are familiar with. Perez Musik noted that urban gospel itself faced resistance due to its lack of acceptance within Ghana's Christian community, as the Christian fraternity has yet to fully embrace it.

Despite the challenges, Perez Musik remains passionate about music and sees no issue with exploring different sounds, as long as the message remains clear and centered around Christ. He expressed that Ghanaians have a tendency to categorize and box artists, making it difficult for them to change their perception of an artist's identity.

Perez Musik attributes his success to God's grace and believes that artistes should be free to express themselves through various musical styles, as long as their message remains rooted in Christ.
