FPV drone repurposed to hunt Russian recon drones worked so well that Ukraine turned it into new purpose-built interceptor

Ukraine has approved a new domestic interceptor named TAF Kolibri-i10, which was repurposed from an FPV drone originally used for hunting Russian recon drones. The Defense Ministry has put the interceptor on the shelf for units to purchase. This marks one more weapon in Ukraine's fast-growing interceptor arsenal. The Kolibri-i10 is a high-speed interceptor built for speed and durability, with a stronger frame, more powerful motors, faster propellers, and improved aerodynamics.

It can reach speeds over 200 kilometers per hour, cover a range of up to 25 kilometers, stay aloft for more than 20 minutes, and fly up to 3,000 meters in altitude. The interceptor is designed to hunt Russian reconnaissance and strike drones, specifically Molniya, Orlan, and Zala models. Field tests have confirmed its effectiveness.

The interceptor can operate under jamming and features manual control and digital day-and-night cameras for varied operating conditions. It is built to resist electronic warfare. The drone is available for purchase on Brave1 Market, priced at roughly $760 with a day camera and $1,550 with a night camera.
