Former Disney CEO Bob Chapek Memoir ‘Behind The Castle Walls’ Gets Fall Release Date

Former Disney CEO Bob Chapek is set to publish a tell-all memoir detailing his 30-year tenure at the entertainment giant, from his appointment as CEO in 2020 to his subsequent dismissal in 2022. Entitled "Behind the Castle Walls: My 30 Years at the Happiest Place on Earth," the book will be released on September 29 by Simon & Schuster's Gallery Books.

Co-written with Don Yaeger, Chapek's memoir is expected to shed light on the behind-the-scenes maneuverings that led to his ousting, including his handling of the "Don't Say Gay" law controversy in Florida, a lawsuit by actress Scarlett Johansson, and the departure of key executive Peter Rice. The book also explores Chapek's perspective on whether he was given a fair chance at leadership and his hopes for leaving a lasting legacy.

Following his dismissal, Chapek joined the board of Masimo in 2024 before resigning the following year. Meanwhile, Iger, who returned to the Disney CEO role in 2022, has stepped down once again, making way for Josh D'Amaro to take the helm. Iger is currently involved in advisory roles with Thrive and the Los Angeles Lakers, as well as owning the Angel City Football Club.
