Fahmi: Malaysians To Get 10GB Free Mobile Data On National Day, Malaysia Day

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has revealed that Malaysian citizens will receive a total of 10GB of free mobile data ahead of the National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations. This initiative, part of the Rahmah National Day and Malaysia Day 2026 Rebate Incentive, is a collaboration between the Communications Ministry and the five major telcos – Maxis, CelcomDigi, TM, U Mobile and YES.

The offer is available to both prepaid and postpaid users. On National Day, 31 August, eligible Malaysians will receive 5GB of data, with the remaining 5GB to be given out on Malaysia Day, 16 September. Details of the redemption process and validity period will be announced by the telcos themselves. As of now, neither Maxis nor CelcomDigi, among the other participating telcos, have publicly disclosed their specific plans.

The Communications Ministry is expected to soon publish FAQs on its website for further clarification. The initiative was officially announced at the HKHM 2026 Celebration Sponsorship Contribution Presentation Ceremony, where it was reported that total sponsorships amounted to RM48.63 million, up 118% from last year's RM22.3 million.
