The Malaysian government has transported the Ambassador and representatives from foreign countries to the eastern coast of Sabah in an effort to restore international confidence in the safety of the region after nearly 13 years. Minister of Internal Affairs, Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, stated that this action is a direct consequence of the Lahad Datu incident, which occurred about 13 years ago and not only impacted the local population but also affected potential tourism.

He hopes that this step will encourage foreign diplomats and representatives to advise their respective governments to review travel advisories for their citizens.

Since the start of this initiative, which is now in its third year, several countries have re-examined their travel advisories for their citizens. Chief among these is the United States and Japan, followed by China, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States, as well as countries in Eastern Asia. Saifuddin stated that the main objective is to convince foreign representatives that the region's safety is now assured and that they should encourage their citizens to travel again.

Increased tourism will bring significant economic benefits to Sabah, particularly in the eastern coastal areas, he added. The delegation visited the eastern coastal areas, including forests and islands, for three days and two nights to assess the safety conditions and gain firsthand experience.
