Domestic dispute ends in gelatin blast; Karnataka man, teen daughter killed

A domestic dispute erupted in a house in Karnataka’s Kalaburagi district on Tuesday morning, resulting in a deadly explosion that claimed the lives of a 49-year-old man and his 15-year-old daughter, while injuring five others. According to Matki Thanda police, Shivalal Baliram Rathod visited his in-laws' house around 10:30 am, where his wife Savitha had been residing with their three children after a disagreement between the couple.

The couple had been arguing for several days, and Rathod believed his wife was having an affair. Following Savitha's departure with the children to her parents' home, Rathod reportedly followed her. Armed with gelatin sticks, he entered the house, intending to kill his wife. The explosives, commonly used in mining and construction, were not meant for unauthorized possession or use.

Upon entering, Rathod tied the gelatin sticks around his waist, closed the main door, and detonated them, causing the explosion. The police, Superintendent Adduru Srinivasulu of Alanda, registered a case and are investigating the incident.
