Delhi Confidential: In Solidarity

In a show of support for Kerala MP John Brittas, Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge donned a Malayali 'mundu' to Parliament on Wednesday. Kharge was photographed alongside MPs Haris Beeran, P Sandosh Kumar, Brittas and others, all clad in traditional 'dhoti' or 'mundu'. He identified himself as one who wears the attire, sources revealed.

Joining the debate on the Bill to rename Kerala as Keralam in the Rajya Sabha, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Ramdas Athawale began his speech with a rhyme: "Modi ji aur Amit Shahji mein hai dum, iss liye unke saath hai hum". He then noted that the DMK and AAP were "with us" as their MPs were present in the House. However, he clarified, "Arvind Kejriwal is not with us, but Sanjay ji [MP Sanjay Singh] can come with us", causing laughter from both sides of the aisle, including Singh.
