Decomposed body of woman found in 75-foot well in Kiambu

Police in Gatundu North, Kiambu County, are investigating a murder after finding the decomposed body of an unidentified woman inside a 75-foot-deep well in Inorero Village. The woman's body was discovered on Tuesday morning by a resident who was fetching water from the well. The man noticed the well's bucket had become stuck and, upon closer inspection, found the woman's body at the bottom.

Police, along with the Kiambu County fire and rescue team, arrived at the scene and retrieved the body. The unidentified woman, estimated to be around 30 years old, was wearing a red T-shirt, blue jeans, and had no shoes. Her body was in an advanced state of decomposition, making identification difficult. Neighbors were unable to recognize the woman, leading police to suspect she may have been killed elsewhere before being dumped in the well.

The body was transported to Thika Hospital mortuary for preservation and a postmortem examination to determine the cause and circumstances of her death. Authorities have appealed to the public for any information that could help identify the woman. The incident has left the local community disgusted, as they had been using the well's water without knowing about the decomposed body inside.

In a separate case in Kisumu County, police have launched an investigation after discovering the body of a 35-year-old man, Dison Juma Anyango, floating in an abandoned borehole in Kotieno Village. The man's father had last seen him on August 8, when he was supposed to visit his brother in Kibigori. The family was shocked to learn their son's body had been found in the borehole, with no visible physical injuries.

Police are processing the scene and preserving the body for an autopsy to determine the cause and circumstances of his death.
