Civil rights agency moves to drop subpoena action against Nike in DEI-related investigation

Federal civil rights agency the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has withdrawn a subpoena enforcement action against sportswear giant Nike, stating the company has complied with information requests as part of an investigation into the company's diversity and inclusion policies. The EEOC filed the motion to dismiss in Missouri federal court after receiving ongoing compliance from Nike between March and August.

An EEOC spokesperson expressed satisfaction with Nike's compliance but did not provide further details. Nike declined to comment. The investigation against Nike was initiated due to an EEOC complaint filed in May 2024 alleging discrimination against white employees, based on publicly shared company data showing progress in diversity initiatives and a stated goal of 35% minority workforce representation by 2025.
