Choo Shin-soo reveals details of his $200,000-a-year MLB pension

Former Major League Baseball (MLB) player Choo Shin-soo discussed the pension and additional benefits he is eligible to receive in a July 10 episode of tvN STORY’s program, "What To Do with Leftovers." Choo appeared alongside fellow former MLB players Kim Byung-hyun and Oh Seung-hwan. Kim estimated that Choo would receive around 300 million won ($220,000) annually, stating that pension payments grow with years of service.

Choo confirmed that he would be receiving this pension for the remainder of his life. In the event of his death, the payments would be passed on to his spouse, and if both were no longer alive, the remaining benefits would go to their children. Oh, who estimated receiving about 100 million won a year in pension benefits, jokingly remarked, "I usually brag about that elsewhere, but I feel small in front of Choo and Kim."

Kim playfully responded, "But you have gold, don't you?" eliciting laughter from the audience. Oh, once a member of the Korean national team, was also present during the discussion.
