California Senate passes resolution recognising Pakistan-US relations

California's state Senate unanimously approved a resolution on Wednesday, highlighting the strong ties between Pakistan and the United States. Senator Melissa Hurtado introduced the resolution, which recognized the significant contributions of the Pakistani-American community to the state's economy, culture, and social fabric. The document commended these individuals for their achievements across various sectors and urged all Californians to celebrate the friendly relations between the two nations.

Pakistan's Ambassador to the US, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, expressed gratitude to Hurtado for her leadership and reinforced Pakistan's commitment to enhancing people-to-people ties and advancing the positive trajectory of Pakistan-US bilateral relations. The Council of Pakistan, under the leadership of Dr Imran Sharief, also played an important role in securing the resolution's passage.

The California State Assembly adopted a similar resolution, which aimed to promote relations between Pakistan and the state of California while acknowledging the contributions of Pakistani-American businesses and investors to economic cooperation between the two countries. The resolutions were passed during Ambassador Sheikh's official visit to California, where he met with state lawmakers to bolster economic and political engagement.

During his visit, Ambassador Sheikh met with Senator Eloise Gomez, who commended Pakistan's role in promoting regional peace and stability. Sheikh extended an official invitation to Gomez to visit Pakistan, and the two discussed opportunities to expand trade, investment, and economic cooperation between their nations. Sheikh also hosted a working lunch with California Assembly members Matt Haney and Sharon Quirk-Silva, focusing on key aspects of bilateral cooperation.

He extended invitations to both legislators to visit Pakistan, with the aim of further strengthening bilateral collaboration across key sectors.
