Cadillac sack Lowdon and present Budkowski as new F1 boss

Cadillac motor company terminated Graeme Lowdon as the founding principal of their Formula One team after a half-season, appointing Marcin Budkowski as the new team principal. Budkowski, 49, has extensive experience working with various teams, including Ferrari, McLaren, and the FIA. Lowdon, a 61-year-old Briton, had led Cadillac since 2024 as they entered the sport as the 11th team.

Cadillac has yet to score points in 11 races this season due to reliability issues but has outperformed Aston Martin and has experienced drivers like Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas. The team's statement expressed that Budkowski's arrival would contribute to long-term competitive development. Cadillac CEO Dan Towriss praised Budkowski's F1 experience, technical expertise, and strategic leadership.

He revealed that the leadership transition had been planned for some time and that Lowdon had been informed of his dismissal via phone call on Wednesday morning. Budkowski, who has been in Formula One since 2001, expressed his excitement about joining the team and highlighted his discussions with various teams and General Motors executives. The next race for the team is the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort on August 23.
