Budkowski replaces Lowdon as Cadillac F1 team principal

Cadillac F1 team has sacked founding principal Graeme Lowdon and appointed Marcin Budkowski as their new team principal. This move was planned behind the scenes for some time, according to the team. Budkowski, 49, has held positions at various teams including Ferrari, McLaren, and the FIA. Lowdon, 61, had led the GM-backed Cadillac team from 2024 to its first race in Melbourne last March.

Cadillac has struggled this season, failing to score a point in their first 11 races due to reliability issues, although they have outperformed Aston Martin and fielded experienced drivers like Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas. The team stated that Budkowski's arrival would aid long-term competitive development. Budkowski's recent discussions with team owners and GM officials, including Mark Reuss, were crucial in securing his role. The next race for Cadillac is the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort on August 23.
