Baba Siddique Murder Case: Mumbai Police Tells Court Physical Custody Of Anmol Bishnoi Is Essential For Conspiracy Probe

Mumbai police has asked for physical custody of Anmol Bishnoi in the Baba Siddique murder case, arguing that interrogating him virtually is not sufficient. This request comes after the wife of the victim, Shehzeen Siddique, sought the court's intervention to obtain Bishnoi's custody through video conferencing, as his physical presence was not feasible at the time.

The court had previously directed the Crime Branch to take steps to arrest Bishnoi, who was deported back to India in November last year and is currently in Tihar prison. However, the Mumbai police obtained a production warrant and moved the special NIA court, which rejected their plea, stating that Bishnoi cannot be moved out of Tihar prison for security reasons.

Despite this, the police maintain that Bishnoi's physical custody is crucial for the investigation, not only for questioning him about the conspiracy but also to unravel the motive behind the murder and ascertain if he orchestrated it. The police also emphasized that virtual interrogation would not allow them to trace the financiers, financial transactions, or the syndicate's head. The court has now set the matter for a hearing next week.
