Ashghal completes more than 65% of Rumailah Hospital Safety and Security Systems Upgrade Project

Doha, Qatar - The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has announced the completion of more than 65% of the Rumailah Hospital Safety and Security Systems Upgrade Project, a collaboration with the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH). The project aims to upgrade and modernize the hospital's life safety and fire protection systems, aligning with Qatar's General Directorate of Civil Defence and international best practices.

Eng. Ahmed Al Obaidli, the Project Manager, stated that Ashghal has fulfilled more than 65% of the project, with all works scheduled to be completed during the first quarter of 2027. The project includes upgrading and replacing fire detection and alarm systems, firefighting and suppression systems, emergency lighting, exit signage, as well as architectural works such as fire-rated walls, doors, and escape staircases.

Additionally, comprehensive structural studies are being conducted on Rumailah Hospital buildings to assess their condition, with strengthening and rehabilitation works carried out where necessary to enhance safety, sustainability, and extend the operational lifespan of the hospital structures. Ashghal is committed to supporting local industry, with approximately 62% of the materials used in this project being locally manufactured.
