ANC asks voters for another chance

The African National Congress (ANC) has appealed to voters to grant them another opportunity. The party recently briefed the media on its 2021 Local Government Elections manifesto review, which aims to evaluate progress on 102 commitments made to improve local government five years ago. The ANC is set to unveil its mayoral candidates for the upcoming elections on November 4th.

Chairperson of the party’s Local Government Intervention Subcommittee, Stella Ndabeni, acknowledged the party's track record but admitted to facing challenges and sometimes compromising on decisions. Deputy Chairperson of the ANC’s Local Government Intervention subcommittee, Dr. Dickson Masemola, attributed the issues in municipalities to leadership within coalition governments, stating that decision-making is hindered by the dynamics of coalition politics in big cities.

The ANC’s NEC Member Masemola urged residents of Johannesburg to vote the party back into power, emphasizing the party's capacity and policies to restore the city to its former glory if given absolute authority.
