Adeleke: I’m the Candidate to Beat in Saturday’s Guber Poll in Osun

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State discussed his prospects in the upcoming gubernatorial election on August 15, 2026, and the progress his administration has made in the state over the past four years, in an interview. In a previous debate, discussions centered around the half salary and pension debt, but Adeleke asserts that his government has paid over two-thirds of the half salary debt and released over N80 billion in inherited pension debt.

He has also implemented measures to improve worker welfare, which has been well-received by Osun workers. Despite dancing and singing being his hobbies, Adeleke believes they do not interfere with his duties as governor. He has delivered on many fronts, such as roads, bridges, schools, and healthcare centers, and is proud of these accomplishments.

However, he is forthcoming about his expectations if re-elected, including the completion of ongoing projects and continued commitment to the welfare of the people. Adeleke criticized the escalating violence in the election process, noting that the opposition's failure to present viable programs has led to their desperation and resort to violent tactics.

He expressed concern over the police's involvement in election-related issues, urging them to maintain neutrality and prevent the use of force to manipulate the electoral process. Lastly, Adeleke called upon Osun residents to vote and protect their votes, monitor the election process, and be vigilant to ensure a fair and free election.
