Adeleke declares Friday work-free day for Osun workers

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has announced that Friday, August 14, 2026, will be a work-free day for all public service workers in the state before the upcoming gubernatorial election. This decision, outlined in a circular issued by the Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina, and shared by the Governor's spokesperson on X, aims to allow workers to travel to polling stations and prepare for exercising their constitutional right to vote.

The government stated that all types of workers are covered by the decision, except those performing emergency and essential duties. Adeleke encouraged Osun workers, their families, and supporters to actively participate in the election to defend their votes and ensure a continued favorable government for the state. He praised the support of organized labor and workers for his administration and emphasized the importance of their involvement in defending their constitutional rights to vote and be voted for.

The Governor also urged the electorate to protect the positive gains made by his administration over the past three and a half years, warning against a return to challenging times.
