300 corps members will be attached to CNG centres after training — FG

The Federal Government has announced that 300 National Youth Service Corps members will receive training and certification as CNG technicians, to be attached to various compressed natural gas conversion centers nationwide. Dr. Titilope Gbadamosi, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Youth Initiatives, Monitoring, and Delivery, announced this during the opening ceremony of the CNG Retrofitting Training Programme for the corps members at the NYSC FCT Orientation Camp in Abuja.

Gbadamosi stated that the programme aims to retrofit 100,000 vehicles annually and is part of Nigeria's transition to CNG as the primary fuel alternative after the removal of fuel subsidies in 2033. The National Automotive and Development Council has committed its technical authority and full funding to this initiative. Gbadamosi also highlighted that the training will create more job opportunities and expand entrepreneurial prospects for the corps members.

The Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, encouraged the corps members to embrace sustainable energy and leverage their skills to complement their academic qualifications. The NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, emphasized the inter-agency collaboration behind the programme and its support for President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda.
