2027: Ex-LP spokesman challenges Obi over alleged certificate discrepancies

Former Labour Party spokesman Abayomi Arabambi is challenging Peter Obi's eligibility to run for president in 2027, alleging discrepancies in Obi's official records. Arabambi claims that Obi has used multiple variations of his name in documents submitted to electoral and educational authorities, including "Peter Onwubuasi Gregory," "Obi Gregory Onwubuasi," and "Peter Gregory Onwubuasi Obi."

Arabambi argues that these inconsistencies undermine Obi's ability to maintain a consistent identity, as he declared on his INEC form that he had no other formal name. The controversy stems from the differences in Obi's name across various documents, such as his INEC Form EC9, primary school certificate, and University of Nigeria, Nsukka, certificate.

Arabambi has written to several institutions, including the National Youth Service Corps, the West African Examinations Council, and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, seeking clarification on the matter. However, he claims the institutions have delayed their responses, prompting him to consider pursuing the issue through legal channels.

Arabambi emphasizes that presidential candidates must clearly account for their personal and educational records to prove their eligibility, and the lack of a formal document documenting a name change raises concerns about Obi's credibility.
