[Exclusive] HL Mando, where 20s got crushed, faked safety inspection meeting minutes submitted to Ministry of Labor

A 20-year-old subcontracted worker named Kim Seung-mo has been accused of submitting falsified meeting notes to the Employment and Labor Ministry in connection with a workplace accident. The notes claim that the company, Haeul (HL) Machinery Parts, implemented safety measures such as preventing sudden machine activation. This move is seen as an attempt to evade responsibility.

The report was submitted to the ministry on June 12th. According to sources, Haeul submitted the safety meeting notes in March despite not convening the technical safety and health committee (Technical Safety and Health Committee) in June as required by the Industrial Safety and Health Act. The committee is required to meet quarterly to examine and vote on important matters related to the safety and health of the workplace.

The notes also include plans to improve the safety system for machines that suddenly activate, which lacked a safety device that halts operation when a door is opened, and lacked a safety supervisor to oversee the work. The use of a safety supervisor and technical safety and health committee inspection was seen as weak and ineffective.

The Metal Workers Union called for a halt to the process of restarting operations and individual contact restrictions for the worker's family. Haeul Group stated that they will comply with the union's recommendations for a consultation on the safety committee and will take necessary safety measures to prevent recurrence.
