Zelenskyy: Russian Strikes on Zaporizhzhia Killed Six, Injured 19

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that a Russian attack on Zaporizhzhia resulted in the death of six individuals and left 19 others injured. Zelenskyy blamed Russian forces for utilizing North Korean ballistic missiles, Zircon missiles, and guided aerial bombs in their assault, which he deemed a deliberate effort to inflict significant harm upon civilian infrastructure.

He expressed his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives. Rescue teams are still battling a fire at one of the attack sites. In Kyiv, a Russian missile strike resulted in damage to an infectious diseases hospital and several businesses. Russian forces have also continued to conduct daily drone attacks around the front lines.

Strikes on substations in Kherson and Kharkiv have led to power outages, prompting emergency and utility crews to work towards restoring electricity to affected households. Russian forces have also targeted regions in Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, and Mykolaiv. Furthermore, Russia has launched over 120 drones against Ukraine, primarily Shahed drones, according to Zelenskyy.

The president noted Russia's ongoing expansion of ballistic missile production, the utilization of North Korean weapons, and preparations for a potential mobilization, suggesting Moscow's intent to escalate the conflict rather than seek peace. Zelenskyy urged Ukraine's international allies to respond promptly by imposing stronger sanctions on entities supporting Russia's war efforts and providing Ukraine with additional air defense systems. He emphasized that these actions are crucial to preserving the possibility of peace.
