Wakil rakyat BN, PH gesa RCI baharu Tabung Haji

Members of the Malaysian Parliament from both Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) have urged the government to establish a new Royal Malaysian Commission (RCI) to investigate the management and operations of the Tabung Haji (TH) institution. In a discussion on the RCI TH report in the Dewan Rakyat, Mohd Isam Mohd Isa from BN-Tampin suggested that the RCI be set up for the period 2021 to 2025 due to the lack of comprehensive coverage in previous investigations that only addressed the 2014-2020 timeframe.

He emphasized that many important issues relating to TH have occurred after 2020 and that the RCI period should be extended until at least 2025. Similarly, RSN Rayer from PH-Jelutong also called for a new RCI covering the 2021-2025 period to identify management and operational weaknesses in the Tabung Haji institution during that time.

However, both MPs from the PH and PH-Jelutong parties stated that the existing RCI is inadequate as it fails to clearly hold individuals responsible or impose punitive actions. They demanded a separate RCI to directly hold accountable those responsible for financial and management issues within the TH institution. PAC member and Isam Mohd Isa, also emphasized the need for such a RCI to be conducted by the Parliamentary Advisory Committee (PAC) in addition to the TH management issues.

He stressed that this step is crucial to ensure any weaknesses in TH management are identified and addressed, particularly for the 2022-2026 timeframe.
