WAFCON 2026: Ordega blames Super Falcons’ exit on poor preparation

Francisca Ordega has attributed Nigeria's elimination from the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations to inadequate preparation, according to DAILY POST. Nigeria failed to reach the final four for the first time in the competition's history after suffering a 1-0 quarter-final loss to Cameroon's Indomitable Lionesses. The team began the tournament with a shocking 3-2 defeat to Malawi's debutants, but managed to recover with wins against Zambia and Malawi.

Despite a determined performance, Nigeria was ultimately defeated by Cameroon. Ordega expressed dissatisfaction with the Super Falcons' readiness for the tournament, stating, "of course not. I think it’s something we really need to talk about." She emphasized that if teams are competing for a World Cup berth, they must adequately prepare as all nations aim for such a prestigious event.
