Used-car platform puts boat on flooded Gurgaon road, then people used it to get home

A used-car platform named Cars24 faced a Rs 50,000 fine for deploying a branded boat on a flooded road in Gurgaon during monsoon season. The company had used the blue boat in a joke about the city's waterlogging, which quickly became a means of transportation for stranded commuters. Cars24 executive Prachi Sharma revealed the fine was due to the company breaking traffic laws by placing a boat on a road meant for vehicles.

Sharma acknowledged the fine was paid and expressed hope that the incident would draw attention to Gurgaon's ongoing waterlogging issues. The post resonated with many, with users praising the boat's utility in the flooded conditions. However, the official Gurugram Traffic Police denied the Rs 50,000 challan claim, stating that no such fine was issued.

Cars24 later apologized, clarifying that the mentioned amount was not a traffic challan but the cost of executing the marketing campaign.
