[UPDATED] Body of missing 7-year-old found 3km downstream

A seven-year-old Indonesian boy who went missing while playing at a Subang Jaya supermarket has been discovered dead in a nearby river. The Selangor Fire and Rescue Department confirmed the tragic discovery at 10.59am today, located approximately three kilometres downstream from the spot where the boy tragically fell in. The victim was located by personnel from the Subang Jaya fire and rescue station alongside the Water Rescue Team.

The body was transported to the control post at noon, where identification was confirmed by the boy's parents. Subsequently, the body was handed over to the police and transferred to Serdang Hospital for further examination. The Search and Rescue (SAR) operation, which had been ongoing since 8.06pm yesterday, was concluded at 12.20pm.

The young boy was last seen around 6.30pm yesterday, plunging into the river during playtime with friends. The SAR operation was extended over eight kilometres downstream due to strong currents, divided into three sectors - A at 300m, B spanning two kilometres, and C extending further than eight kilometres towards Sri Muda and Sungai Kandis.

At 10.30am today, seven individuals from the Water Rescue Team embarked on surface searches and diving operations, assisted by firefighters from Subang Jaya in the first two sectors. They also inspected rubbish traps along Sungai Kandis in Sector C.
