Two Men Attacked By Stray Dogs In Ujjain; Residents Demand Civic Action

Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): Two individuals were viciously attacked by stray dogs in separate incidents near Hatkeshwar Colony on Tuesday morning. An elderly man suffered serious injuries including to his hands, legs, and body, requiring five stitches to staunch the bleeding. Meanwhile, another man, Bablu, had his thumb badly bitten by the dog, necessitating immediate hospitalization in the district hospital due to the severity of his wounds.

Both attacks occurred in close proximity, with residents alleging that large groups of stray dogs frequently roam the area. The Ujjain Municipal Corporation has been repeatedly notified about the issue, but residents claim no action has been taken to resolve the problem. One man, Mangilal Khatri, was walking back home after dropping off his grandchildren at school when he was suddenly mauling by a stray dog, causing him to fall and suffer multiple injuries.

Neighbors rushed to his aid, rescuing him from the aggressive canine. Another incident unfolded shortly after in the same neighborhood when Bablu, son of Hiralal, tried to evict a stray dog from his home. The dog retaliated by fiercely biting his hand, causing considerable blood loss and requiring urgent medical attention. Anger has been simmering among the residents, who are demanding swift intervention from the Ujjain Municipal Corporation.

They have threatened to block the road and launch a more intense protest unless the stray dogs are captured and removed from the area.
