Trump says would be ‘terrible mistake’ to replace Fifa’s Infantino

Trump highlighted Infantino's role in organizing what he deemed the most successful World Cup ever, emphasizing that the event exceeded all expectations four times over.

Despite allegations of a workplace affair and criticism over a failed private investment scheme, Trump defended Infantino, describing him as a "fantastic" Italian-Swiss lawyer. This stance stands in contrast to the position of US Soccer, which, along with Canadian and Central American Caribbean football organizations, has criticized Infantino.

Infantino, who is up for re-election in March, has denied any wrongdoing and been backed by Fifa, which views the criticism as a concerted effort to undermine the organization. Other global football bodies, including the Confederation of African Football and South American governing body CONMEBOL, have also echoed Trump's support for Infantino.
