Trump is also my president – Davido

Afrobeats artist Davido has asserted that U.S. President Donald Trump is also his president, following criticism over his recent plea to Trump regarding the upcoming Osun State governor election. In a series of messages on X, the singer addressed concerns over potential violence, intimidation, and electoral disruption, urging Trump and the international community to pay attention to the August 15 vote.

Some X users supported Davido's appeal, while others criticized him. One user, Ifedayo (JIMCRUZ), playfully asked, "Is everything okay, David?" Davido replied, "So I can't tweet my president again?" Another user, ÌKÀ NATION (@Wuwaika90), posted an image of Davido and President Bola Tinubu together, captioned, "If Trump is your president, who is this?"

Davido, who holds dual citizenship, is a nephew of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and has openly backed his uncle's re-election bid. In his previous plea, Davido called on the U.S. and the global community to monitor the election and encourage Nigerian authorities to protect voters and ensure their votes are respected.
