Toy Story 5 Gets a Digital Release Date After Crossing $1 Billion at the Global Box Office

Toy Story 5 will become available on digital platforms on August 18, 2026. This release date is set two months after the movie's theatrical debut, a longer window of exclusivity compared to recent big franchise releases like Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu. As of now, Toy Story 5 has earned over $1 billion globally, making it the third highest-grossing movie of 2026.

Despite this success, Disney has reportedly been reducing Pixar staff due to the underperformance of previous Pixar films. The DVD release of Toy Story 5 will feature a limited 4K steelbook and a collection of the original Toy Story and Toy Story 5 in 4K, as well as all five Toy Story movies. This DVD set will be available on September 22.

Following Toy Story 5, Gatto's original animated film will be released in theaters on March 5, 2027. There are currently no plans for another Toy Story sequel in live action. Toy Story 5 is expected to join the rest of Pixar's catalog on Disney+ around mid-September, following the pattern of recent Pixar releases.
