Tiada PRK di kerusi parlimen Subang, kata SPR

The Suruhanjaya Pilihan Raya (SPR) has confirmed that no by-election (PRK) will be held for the Subang parliamentary seat following Wong Chen's resignation as the MP. According to SPR Chairperson Ramlan Harun, the Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat, Johari Abdul, informed the SPR that no action was required to fill the vacant seat. Under Article 54(1) of the Federal Constitution, the Speaker notified the SPR that no need existed to address the vacancy.

Consequently, there will be no by-election for the P.104 Subang parliamentary constituency. Wong Chen, who has served as the MP for Subang since May 2018, announced his resignation on Wednesday after handing over his resignation letter to Johari Abdul the previous day. He stated that the election process aimed to provide three working days for parliamentary staff to make necessary preparations for the vacancy.

Wong, who previously represented Kelana Jaya from 2013 to 2018, said he and Johari agreed not to disclose details about his resignation until Wednesday. Wong is among three PKR MPs recently barred from accessing the MyKhas portal, which manages parliamentary constituency facilities. The other two are PKR MPs Ampang, Rodziah Ismail, and Petaling Jaya, Lee Chean Chung.

All three attended a recent Unity launch, a party now led by former PKR chief Rafizi Ramli and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.
