Actor Hyung-yeong's family member with a "collaboration with Japan" background has sparked controversy. Their agency, Vesterse Entertainment, acknowledged on November 11th that Hyung-yeong's great-grandfather, An Song-ho, is listed in the 1916 National Convention of Cooperation with Japan's delegation record. The agency profusely apologized for their "impulsive response" that caused confusion.

Vesterse Entertainment emphasized the need for careful verification when documenting historical facts and individuals, stating that this incident taught them a deep lesson. They mentioned that Hyung-yeong had previously mentioned her family's four generations of medical profession during recent TV appearances. Hyung-yeong herself clarified that her ancestor was a physician who studied in Japan and opened a clinic in Seoul.

The controversy arose after it was discovered that her great-grandfather, An Song-ho, was a physician who served during the Japanese occupation. The National Research Institute for North Korean Issues noted his name in its dictionary of "collaboration with Japan" figures, although it was not listed in the 1918 December 10 issue of the Korean Imperial Government's daily newspaper 'Maeil Shinbo'.

However, Vesterse Entertainment had previously downplayed the issue, labeling it as "unsubstantiated" in a statement the day before. Hyung-yeong recently appeared in Netflix's 'This Kind of Love' alongside actor Jeon Joon.
