윤상현, 국힘 일각 ‘득표율 조작설’ 일축…“우리 의원도 다 가짜인가”

A group of members within 국민의힘 have defended representative 윤상현's stance that if the election management body manipulated vote percentages, then vote tampering is also possible. 윤 emphasized that "voter count input errors" constitute "serious management failures" but stressed that "proof linking misrecorded voter numbers to altered vote counts for candidates is lacking." 윤, who serves as the chair of the special parliamentary investigation committee probing the 6·3 local elections, emphasized on Facebook that while the election management body's failings are unacceptable, "excessive alarmism about electoral systems is unwarranted." 윤 highlighted that "manipulating vote percentages without concrete evidence of a causal connection between voter misreporting and altered candidate vote totals is unjustified."

He explained the verification process, from classification and tabulation of ballots at polling stations, through review and signing by election officials, to confirmation by the voting committee chair and subsequent electronic recording. 윤 cautioned that attributing electoral manipulation solely to voter count errors would extend to questioning the legitimacy of elected officials like Seoul's mayor and other lawmakers.

He stressed the need for clear distinctions when accusing elections of fraud, and reiterated that "we cannot simply conclude that an election has been manipulated based solely on vote percentage errors."
