Starbucks Japan unveils new Kyoho grape drinks for a taste that’s quintessentially Japanese

Japan’s famous Kyoho grapes are making a summer-to-autumn transition in Starbucks Japan’s latest beverage offerings. Despite the ongoing heat, the drinks promise to deliver a taste of the upcoming season. The two drinks, each featuring the popular Japanese grape variety, aim to provide a refreshing and flavorful bridge between summer and autumn.

The Houjun Kyoho Frozen Tea combines juicy Kyoho grape pieces and chunks of grape jelly with refreshing black tea. This sophisticated frozen tea creates an aromatic base reminiscent of fully ripened grapes, with a touch of cassis for a subtle finishing flavor. The sweetness is kept low to allow the true flavor of the ingredients to shine through. With a tall serving priced at 668 yen (US$4.18) for takeout or 680 yen for dine-in, customers can enjoy this richly flavored drink this summer.

The second offering, Kyoho Chillax Soda, pairs juicy grape pieces and grape jelly with an effervescent carbonated soda. Starbucks’ “Chillax Soda” series is known for its fruit flavors combined with a specially developed “green citrus” syrup. This new variety adds a fun textural contrast to the drink, giving customers a refreshing beverage to enjoy during the summer months.

Available in Tall through Venti sizes, with prices ranging from 579 to 680 yen, the Kyoho Chillax Soda offers a tasty alternative to the classic drink. Customers can enjoy these limited-time flavors at Starbucks stores across Japan until 17 August.
