#SHOWBIZ: Malaysian music composer and director Lee Sze Wan dies at 47

Lee Sze Wan, a highly regarded music composer and director from Malaysia, lost her life on August 9 at the age of 47. The cause of her death has not yet been disclosed. The news of her passing was shared by popular vocalist Misha Omar, who posted a photo series on her Instagram Stories that revealed their strong bond, including memorable moments from past performances.

Misha's tribute to Sze can be found set to the melancholic tune of Michael Jackson's "Gone Too Soon": "Holding you in my heart, forever. Until we meet again."

Sze Wan had a long-standing creative collaboration with Misha, having composed her 2020 track "Tanpa Relamu" and acting as the music director for her concert in 2025. Her most recent high-profile work involved directing the musical direction for the Empat Live in Kuala Lumpur concert last year, which featured renowned artists Anuar Zain, Ziana Zain, Ernie Zakri, and Syamel.

Diskograf.com, a music database, notes that one of Sze Wan's earliest notable collaborations was co-creating the track "Penghiburku" performed by Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza alongside rapper Joe Flizzow.

Throughout her successful career, Sze Wan worked alongside a roster of local music icons, arranging and producing tracks for Anuar Zain's "Selamat Malam," Aina Abdul's "Imaji," and Dayang Nurfaizah's "Akhirnya Bahagia." The local music community has mourned her passing, with artists expressing their grief on social media. Anuar Zain shared his sorrow, stating, "A great loss for all of us.
