Shipping traffic through Strait of Hormuz drops to six vessels: Kpler data

Shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz dwindled to just six vessels on Monday, a stark decline from the typical 10-day average of approximately 11, according to Kpler data. The reduction in traffic followed a diminishing optimism for a potential US-Iran agreement. On Tuesday, the Kpler platform reported that four ships transporting bulk commodities, including two empty oil tankers, navigated the waterway.

Additionally, two vessels – a liquefied petroleum gas tanker and a residual fuel carrier – exited the strait. Reuters revealed that 25 ships passed through the Bab al-Mandab Strait on Monday, a number close to the 10-day average of around 24. President Donald Trump had earlier responded to Iran's demands for compensation related to past wars, attacks, and protests, insisting Tehran pay for such losses before any deal could be reached. These demands echoed a previous agreement from June, which later fell through.
