Settlers blockade Palestinian homes for second day as IDF holds off evacuation

Settlers have maintained a blockade around Palestinian homes in the West Bank village of Qusra for a second consecutive day, despite an Israeli Defense Force (IDF) promise to evacuate the illegal encampment near the houses. Footage from Tuesday showed settlers still present at the site, contradicting IDF statements that the encampment was being cleared.

Palestinian officials in Qusra reported ongoing restrictions on movement and access to basic supplies for residents, with between 10 to 16 settlers maintaining a continuous presence near multiple homes. The IDF condemned the settlers' actions as "illegal, reprehensible and unacceptable" but did not explain the delays in the planned evacuation.

IDF footage showed soldiers praying alongside settlers, further inflaming tensions. Qusra council head Abd al-Azim Wadi confirmed the settlers remained in place, with several tents spread across different locations. Wadi alleged settlers had taken over another resident's property and claimed one Palestinian family was without running water and medical assistance.

The IDF reported recent incidents of Israeli civilians entering Palestinian homes and land in the area, describing these actions as "illegal, reprehensible and unacceptable." A closed military zone was declared, barring entry to non-residents. The IDF also addressed an ambulance incident where civilians were found inside, leading to inspections by military and police.

Wadi stated that settlers effectively blockaded three Palestinian homes, preventing residents from bringing in food and disconnecting their electricity.
