SCMP signs 3 MOUs in Malaysia to deepen Hong Kong-Asean regional cooperation

The South China Morning Post (SCMP) has finalized three memorandums of understanding (MOUs) in Kuala Lumpur, aiming to strengthen regional cooperation and bridge Hong Kong, Malaysia, and the broader Asean region. SCMP publisher Tammy Tam signed the agreements with the Southeast Asian Futures Initiative Centre (SEAFIC), Star Media Group Berhad, and the Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (Hong Kong & Macau) Limited (MayCham) on Tuesday.

These MOUs were part of Hong Kong's biggest delegation to Malaysia, organized under the city's "Think Business, Think Hong Kong" campaign. The partnerships were witnessed by the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Algernon Yau Ying-wah.

SCMP's collaboration with SEAFIC, a prominent think tank, will leverage SEAFIC's forward-thinking research capabilities and Seafic's chairman, Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Aziz, emphasized the need to design solutions for a resilient future due to technological and geopolitical shifts.

Star Media Group Berhad, publisher of Malaysia's leading English-language daily, The Star, expressed the importance of strengthening cross-border collaboration, reflecting shared aspirations to explore opportunities created by the combined strengths of Hong Kong and Malaysia. MayCham deputy chair Helena Phua highlighted the agreement as an opportunity to enhance trade, investment, and cultural exchanges between Hong Kong and Malaysia.

Through their combined professional networks, the collaboration aims to expand SCMP's presence in Southeast Asia and deliver impactful content and activities that promote informed decision-making, trade, and economic development.
