Saudi Arabia condemns Colombia's recognition of Israeli sovereignty over occupied Golan Heights

Saudi Arabia has strongly criticized Colombia for recognizing Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, deeming it a breach of international law. The Saudi foreign ministry stated that the Colombian decision contradicts UN resolutions and international legitimacy. They emphasized that such recognition directly undermines the UN's Security Council Resolution 497 of 1981, which declared Israel's imposition of laws, jurisdiction, and administration on the occupied Golan as null and void.

Saudi Arabia stressed that these actions are counterproductive to peace efforts, instead solidifying the notion of a fait accompli and weakening the international consensus on the Golan's status. The kingdom reaffirmed that the Golan Heights are Syrian Arab territory, asserting that any attempts to alter its legal status are unjustified and lack legitimacy.

Saudi Arabia urged Colombia to reconsider its stance, comply with international law and relevant resolutions, and continue promoting peace and stability in the region.
