‘Sabbatical is a sign of weakness’: Mourinho appears to take dig at Guardiola

In a recent Netflix documentary titled "Mourinho," Jose Mourinho made comments that appeared to be directed at his long-time rival, Pep Guardiola. The Portuguese coach expressed his dislike for the term "sabbatical" or voluntary breaks from coaching, stating that he disliked the word. Guardiola is currently on a sabbatical after ending a 10-year tenure with Manchester City and previously taking an extended break after leaving Barcelona in 2012 to join Bayern Munich.

Mourinho emphasized that he was not interested in discussing the topic further, saying, "I want to win more titles."

Mourinho returned as Real Madrid's coach in June, marking his second stint at the club. His first stint was generally considered unsuccessful, with only one La Liga title and one King's Cup during the three-year period. Now, he will be leading a squad featuring the best players of the current generation, including Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. In the documentary, Mourinho revealed that he had initially been offered the opportunity to take over Manchester United right after Alex Ferguson's departure.

However, he ultimately chose to return to Chelsea for a second stint in 2013. He acknowledged that he had signed with Manchester United due to its incredible appeal, but emphasized that love for a specific club is more powerful than love for football.
