Russia and Pakistan to Launch First Direct Freight Rail Service

Russia and Pakistan are set to inaugurate their inaugural direct freight rail service connecting Moscow with Faisalabad and Karachi, according to Russian Ambassador Albert Khorev. The two nations are collaborating with their respective partners to establish these freight rail links on the Moscow-Faisalabad and Moscow-Karachi routes.

Khorev also mentioned that Belarus may potentially participate in the proposed rail network. However, the project has encountered several delays due to increased geopolitical tensions in the region during 2025 and early 2026. Currently, the parties are finalizing an agreement to outline the freight services and identify companies in the participating countries that are interested in transporting goods through this corridor.

While the ambassador did not provide a specific launch date for the services, the establishment of these rail links would create a new transportation route for commercial cargo between Russia and Pakistan.
