Rozetka seeks tax deferral after Russian strike destroys $70 million warehouse

Rozetka's co-founder, Iryna Chechotkina, has requested Ukraine to postpone taxes for businesses impacted by the war, following a Russian attack that destroyed her company's $70 million distribution center near Kyiv on August 5. The attack also demolished goods worth billions of hryvnias. Chechotkina explained that insurers are unable to cover such large-scale losses, suggesting that Rozetka may struggle to rebuild without assistance.

During a business meeting organized by the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax, and Customs Policy, Chechotkina proposed allowing affected companies to defer their tax payments as a form of government support. She emphasized the immense losses, stating, "The losses are so enormous that without help, we soon won’t have any chance to rebuild."

The damaged Rozetka distribution center, which opened in 2017 and processed over 100,000 orders daily, was deemed irreparable. Committee head Danylo Hetmantsev stated that authorities are preparing to extend the 5-7-9 subsidized lending program to large businesses, while committee member Olha Vasylevska-Smahliuk hinted at the Cabinet's plans to expand its war-risk insurance program.
