Royals bullpen melts down again in loss to Dodgers

In a 6-5 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Kansas City Royals bullpen faltered once again. With the Royals holding a 3-2 lead in the 6th inning, Noah Cameron allowed a series of hard-hit balls that led to runners on second and third with two outs. John Schreiber entered the game, walking Kyle Tucker and giving up a weak line drive, enabling all three runners to score and secure the Dodgers' lead at 5-3.

Despite a Kyle Isbell two-run homer in the 7th inning, which brought the score back to 5-5, Alex Lange allowed two singles in the bottom of the 7th to relinquish the lead. The game concluded with a total of two runs attributed to Schreiber and Lange. The Royals, however, felt that Cameron deserved more credit for his efforts, as he hit a nine-game hitting streak with a groundout in the 1st inning and another home run in the 3rd inning.

Facing Tarik Skubal, Royals' position players demonstrated a strong fight. In the first inning, Cags hit a grounder that rolled through the infield, scoring Witt and extending his hitting streak. In the 3rd inning, Cags hit another towering line drive home run, pushing the lead to 3-0. Skubal struggled after five innings, giving up three runs before being relieved by the star power of Shohei Ohtani.

Ohtani's deep hit, just short of a home run, was driven to the gap by Hunter Feduccia, who was on second base after a double. Freddie Freeman followed with a single, scoring Ohtani. Defensively, Witt showcased his skills throughout the game, making crucial plays in the deep hole and even catching a pop fly in left-center field. Despite the effort from the team, the Royals' record stands at 49-71, while the Dodgers lead with a 71-48 record.

They are set to face each other again tomorrow at 9:10 PM US Central time, with Michael Wacha pitching against Blake Snell.
