Romelu Lukaku agreement paves way for Arsenal transfer

Romelu Lukaku is set to move to Turkish side Fenerbahce, potentially clearing the way for Arsenal to offload one of their lesser-known players. The Belgian striker will join the Turkish club after Napoli agreed to sell him for approximately £5.1 million (€6m), according to reports. Lukaku, 33, transferred to Napoli from Chelsea for £25.2 million (€30m) in 2024, netting 14 Serie A goals and leading the team to the Scudetto.

However, his time at the Italian club was marred by a thigh injury, which restricted him to just five league appearances last season.

With Lukaku's departure, Napoli now needs a replacement forward before the new season begins. This is where Arsenal enters the picture. Reports suggest that Napoli are interested in Arsenal's Gabriel Jesus, though the Italian club must first sell two players to make room for a new signing. Brazilian forward Jesus, whose contract with Arsenal expires at the end of the year, has netted 21 goals and provided 11 assists in the Premier League over the last four seasons.

Despite scoring at an impressive rate, Jesus' career has been plagued by injuries, which have limited him to only nine league starts over the past two years.
